Aaronsburg Area
Public Library A NEW LIBRARY FOR EAST PENNS VALLEY! The Aaronsburg Area Public Library will be moving to the Millheim Borough Building in September 2010 to continue to provide all of the services and programming the community depends upon in a more convenient location with extended hours of operation.
WHY ARE WE MOVING? The Aaronsburg Area Public Library first opened its doors in 1968 at the site of the former Emanuel Evangelical Church to serve the East Penns Valley community. In 1995, the Library became a branch of the Centre County Library & Historical Museum. During the past 42 years this location has served as the area's public library. Unfortunately, the church building was never designed to be a library and physically can no longer support the demands of a modern public library.
WHERE ARE WE MOVING? After an extensive search, the Millheim Borough building, formerly the East Penns Valley School, was identified as a location the could support the physical needs of a public library, as well as the spatial needs to expand our services to the community. The Library will be located on the main floor of the building. The new location will be named the: EAST PENNS VALLEY BRANCH LIBRARY
WHAT ARE WE GAINING? As always, the library will continue to provide all of the services and programming the community depends upon for your educational, recreational, and cultural needs including free wireless Internet access, public Internet terminals, children's and adult programming, books, audiobooks, music CDs, DVDs, and online databases. Our new location will help us expand our services to include the following: ~ More convenient location ~ Handicap access to the building ~ Accessible and family friendly rest room facility ~ Parking lot ~ Drive-up exterior bookdrop ~ New extended hours of operation ~Energy efficient building ~ More welcoming environment with natural lighting ~ Additional programming space
WHEN ARE WE MOVING? Library staff are hard at work to complete the relocation of the library as quickly as possible as we realize the importance of library service to your community. All efforts are moving toward reopening the library by early September. Patrons may continue to return materials via the book drop at the W. Plum Street location and utilize library services through our Centre Hall Area Branch Library and the library's Bookmobile.
The Centre County Library & Historical Museum thanks you for your patience during this transition time as we prepare to open a new library facility to better serve the needs of the East Penns Valley community. We look forward to seeing all of our neighbors in our new facility. Call (814) 355-1516 for further information or assistance.
All locations of the Centre County Library (Aaronsburg, Bellefonte, Bookmobile, Centre Hall, Historical Museum, and Holt/Philipsburg) will be closed September 4th, 5th & 6th for Labor Day.
