Due to ongoing mechanical and budgetary issues, the Bookmobile will be off the road as we consider vehicle replacement options.

Bookmobile

Centre County Library and Historical Museum began operating a county wide bookmobile in 1941. Our current vehicle, purchased in 2008 for $127,386, is the 6th vehicle to be put in service.  Over the past 5 years we have spent over  $30,000 on repairs, and we recognize that it is no longer cost effective to continue making repairs to a vehicle with over 147,000 miles. Safety is also a concern.

The Centre County Library and Historical Museum's Board of Trustees is currently exploring options for replacement. Until funding is secured and a new bookmobile purchased, we can no longer safely continue community based neighborhood stops.
