Library Pickup Lockers Offer 24/7 service

We now offer “library pickup lockers” at the Centre Hall Area Branch Library and the Holt Memorial Library for patrons who cannot make it to the library during business hours to pick up their items. Patrons can choose to have their book and magazine holds placed into a locker for pickup later with just a phone call! Lockers will be ready to use at the Bellefonte Library very soon. Patrons must have their account in “good standing” (no outstanding fees) in order to use a locker.

How to use:

  1. Put books and magazines on hold (request them) through the online catalog or by asking library staff to place holds for you.

  2. Call your preferred CCLHM library branch when you receive a notification that your holds have arrived. You must make this call at least 2 hours before the library closes.

  3. Inform library staff on the phone that you would like your items placed in a pickup locker and if you will have any trouble accessing a high or low locker.

  4. Note which locker your items will be placed in and your pickup code (this will be the last 4 digits of your library card number).

  5. Pickup your items within two days of your locker request. If you fail to pick them up, they will be checked back in to the library.

  6. Re-lock the door of your locker.

Pickup Locker FAQ

Q: How can I get a library locker?

When you receive a notification that your reserved/held items arrive at your chosen library, give the library a phone call and ask staff to put your items in a locker. Please be aware that you may be assigned a different locker each time.

Q: How do I open the locker?

You will enter the 4 digit pin code that staff provided you with when your requested the locker. This will be the last 4-digits of your library card number.

Q: What items can I reserve for pickup in the locker?

You can reserve books and magazines. No Interlibrary loan items or A/V materials (hotspots, Wonderbooks, Playaways, CD Players, DVDs, audiobooks, or JKits) will be placed in lockers due to fluctuating temperature concerns.

Q: How big are the lockers? Will their size effect what I can request?

The lockers are 1 sq ft each. Their size will limit the amount and size of the materials that you can request for locker placement.

Q: How long will I have to pick up my items from the locker?

You will have 2 days to pick up your items from the locker. When the items are placed in the locker, they will be checked out to your card.

Q: What happens if I don’t pick my items up after I requested that they be sent to the locker?

Items will be checked back into the library after 2 days if they are not picked up. Patrons may lose locker privileges if they fail to pick up items from the lockers repeatedly.

Q: Should I put my items back in the locker when I am ready to return them?

No. The lockers are only for item pickup. Items should be returned inside the library or at the drop-box accessible from outside.
