What is a StoryWalk®?

It is a way for children and adults to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time! Individual book pages are installed along outdoor trails in local parks. Families can read the story and interact with prompts as they move together down the trail!

Why is StoryWalk® beneficial?

StoryWalk® is in 50 states and 11 countries. It is a simple, yet powerful tool that fosters literacy, physical skills, neighborly gatherings and social engagement in communities. Everyone benefits from a free multi-sensory experience. Thankfully, all Centre County residents are at most a 30-minute drive from their nearest StoryWalk® (locations below).

Who makes StoryWalk® Possible?

StoryWalk® of Centre County is a partnership between Centre Foundation, Centre Region Parks and Recreation, Penn’s Prairie, Schlow Centre Region Library, and Centre County Library and Historical Museum, with support from Blake and Linda Gall. The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library.
