Borrowing Policies

The Centre County Library, its branches, and the Bookmobile provide free library service to all Centre County Residents.

Library cards issued by any Centre County Public Library will be honored at all public libraries in Centre County including the Schlow Centre Region Library.

Bring your card when you visit the library and report any change of address or contact information.  A fee of $1.00 is charged to replace a lost card.

Getting a Library Card

You may visit any of our locations to get a library card or apply for one online here. When applying in person, you must provide a photo ID and complete an application form. Children under the age of 12 must have a parent/guardian present in order to issue a library card to them. Any person over the age of 12, who does not own an ID, can have a parent vouch for him/her. The person getting the library card must be present at the time the library card is issued.

Loan Period

Most items, with the exception of 7 day DVDs, have a loan period of 21 days. Items not returned by the due date will automatically renew twice with some exceptions. Any item with a pending hold request will not renew.

Fines and Fees

Overdue fees are no longer collected.

Cardholders are charged a replacement fee for any lost or damaged item. No refunds will be issued if the item(s) are subsequently found and returned.
